About LearyJournalism

This blog began with an Advanced Reporting class at Eastern Michigan University, Fall 2011. I’m a student in the M.A. in Creative Writing Program, and loved my Advanced Reporting Class so much that I’ve continued writing: for the Ann Arbor OBSERVER, for the EASTERN ECHO, and more. This blog includes my articles published in those two papers, and other places.

I, Margaret Leary, am the blogger.

Education

I have an M.A. with a major in library science from the University of Minnesota and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. My B.A. is from Cornell University. I’m retired from the job I held from 1984-2011 as Librarian and Director of the Law Library at the University of Michigan.

Community Service

I’m an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the Ann Arbor (MI) District Library and currently serve as President. I’m also on the Board of the Heritage Foundation of the United Methodist Retirement Communities in Chelsea, MI. In the past, I have served on the City of Ann Arbor Planning Commission, and been active in the local Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley. I’ve also served on the Board of Trustees of the William Mitchell College of Law.
